ALLIANCE-STRATEGIES TEAMS WITH COCREATE TO SOLVE THE "Y2K" PROBLEM OF CAD SOLID MODELING

PORTOLA VALLEY, Calif., March 16, 1999 -- Alliance-Strategies, Inc. today announced that it has teamed with CoCreate Software, Inc., a subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard Company, to introduce and accelerate the implementation of the "Deliver Quality Models" program. Deliver Quality Models is a visionary program aimed at solving the "Y2K" problem of CAD solid modeling. At the highest level, the Deliver Quality Models program goals are to explore new ways to improve the quality of CAD solid models transferred between various CAD related products, for example CoCreate’s OneSpace software solution.

CAD solid model databases are becoming the foundation upon which entire products (and product families) are being designed and manufactured. These CAD solid model databases serve as reference data for the entire supply chain and all the functional organizations (marketing, purchasing, customer service, etc.) involved in the product-development process. Unfortunately, just like the "Y2K" problem, its been found that model quality problems may not be observable until the CAD solid modeling database is used in down stream operations or in another CAD solid modeling system.

Over the past five months Alliance-Strategies, Inc. has initiated ongoing discussions with universities, industrial sponsors, standards organizations, quality improvement software vendors and CAD vendors. All are aware of the problem of CAD solid modeling database quality. In fact, some standards organizations have studied the problem and a few companies have created consortiums to solve this problem on a focused basis. No one has taken the necessary steps to solve this problem on an industry wide basis -- until now.

Based on Alliance-Strategy's effort on behalf of CoCreate, CoCreate announced an alliance with the University of Minnesota (see CoCreate Software, Inc. press release, "University of Minnesota First to Join CoCreate’s ‘Deliver Quality Models’ Program" dated March 16, 1999). This is the first of several alliances with universities, industrial sponsors, standards organizations, quality improvement software vendors and CAD vendors that will be part of the Deliver Quality Models program.
